Returning to the show for her third time (see episodes #108 and #172), Heather Robertson of Half Size Me joins me this week. This conversation was inspired from a couple of directions. She was a resource I utilized for a recent article of mine which you can read at www.jasonleenaarts.com/2019/08/27/weigh-watchers-has-almost-ruined-you and we both had similar opinions regarding the introduction of WW's new Kurbo app. As someone I have immense respect and admiration for, this was another topic I knew I had to get Heather back on the show to discuss. Per the mention in this show, you can access Heather's course at www.halfsizeme.com/family To learn more about Heather's work, I can't recommend her podcast, Half Size Me, enough. I am honored to share time this week with Dr. Reid Wilson of Anxieties.com, author of "Stopping The Noise In Your Head" and co-author of "Anxious Kids, Anxious Parents." I wanted to connect with him and bring him on the show to discuss the rise in anxiety today and some of the troubleshooting he likes to use for his patients and individuals suffering from a wide spectrum of anxiety disorders. You can learn more about Dr. Wilson via his website www.anxieties.com and by purchasing his books on Amazon. He has been a client of mine for over four years and if you've been following me, you already know him as we affectionately call him "King Richard." I almost shock myself in saying this but throughout the tenure of the show, I've never had an episode dedicated to the topic of yoga. I am honored this week to break that trend with my guest, Stacy Dockins. Not only does she own yoga studios in Texas but she has recently released a fantastic book called "Embodied Posture" that celebrates yoga more from the anatomical and biomechanical perspective. This book is recommended for any yoga practitioner or yoga enthusiast who is looking to gain a better understanding of how the body moves through yoga poses and understanding what they should be feeling. You can learn more about Stacy at www.stacydockins.com where you can also purchase her book. It has taken way too long for me to get the great Marci Nevin on the show. I resolved that issue this week! Marci and I get to chat about mindset traps and ways we tend to sabotage our own best efforts. We also talk about ways to get out of some of the self-talk pitfalls to see better success towards our goals.

You would have to go way back to Episode #88 to hear the first time Melody Schoenfeld was with me on the show. On that episode we spoke about her book "Pleasure Not Meating You" which is available for purchase on Amazon. She has recently been awarded the 2019 NSCA Personal Trainer Of The Year Award and those of us who know her are far from surprised. In this episode, Melody and I talk about the things that make her unique from a training perspective. She discusses her interests in strongman training and powerlifting as well as how she approaches her training style for her clients. We also talk about her passion for music and how she prioritizes her passions for more effective time management. This week, I welcome Corey Robb of Macros Inc. to the show. In this episode we discuss Corey's path into the fitness industry and his own personal challenges with being overweight, staying motivated with his own fitness goals and how he has prioritized his life based on the ebb and flow of both family and work. There is so much that I think listeners will relate to with Corey's own story and it showcases why he is such a successful coach to his clients. To this day he holds the claim for the most downloaded episode of the show (#76) and two episodes with his lifter, Sumi Singh (#99 & #149.) In this episode, we compile his decades of work with nutrition and nutrition research to discuss the most important strategies for an individual's fat loss success. On the heels of my most recent episode with Dr. Yoni Freedhoff, I connected with Dr. Jose Greenspon, a Missouri-based pediatric surgeon who also follows Dr. Yoni's work. He has been collaborating on a program to help combat obesity in teens by creating a platform that encourages healthier eating, more activity and a positive support environment for adolescents (and their family members) to benefit from. Tune in to this week's bonus episode to hear about the great work that Dr. Greenspon and his team have been doing. Inspired by a suggestion from one of our listeners, I asked Leigh Peele to join me for this milestone episode. For the first time officially in the history of this show, I get the tables turned on me to be interviewed. It's lengthier than we normally go and Leigh and I cover a great deal of topics together: my background into the industry, my own personal history of mental health and wellness, the origins and philosophies of both Revolution Fitness and Therapy and this podcast and a lot more. I hope you enjoy this very different approach to our episodes and I want to again thank Leigh Peele for making this episode happen. To learn more about Leigh's work, please visit www.leighpeele.com To learn more about your host, check out www.jasonleenaarts.com and www.revfittherapy.com You can also like our Facebook page at www.facebook.com/revolutionaryou Download, subscribe, share with your friends and please take a moment to leave us an iTunes review.

I welcome Lift The Bar's Alex Pearson this week to discuss what he calls "The Black Hole of Human Behavior." Alex contributes a significant amount of education to personal trainers in efforts to help them explain why clients succeed, why they fail and some of the psychological realities in play when life gets in the way of our goals. If you're a personal trainer, I highly recommend checking out the educational resources through Lift The Bar at www.liftthebar.com If you are a fitness enthusiast and trying to improve your health, please check out Alex's direct website at www.alexpearson.net To learn more about your host, check out www.jasonleenaarts.com and www.revfittherapy.com You can also like our Facebook page at www.facebook.com/revolutionaryou Download, subscribe, share with your friends and please take a moment to leave us an iTunes review.

Following up on the tremendous success of The Ultimate Pull-Up Program, Meghan talks about why she went this direction with her choice of exercise (and its respective variations) to release to the masses. Rafal Matuszewski is back on the show after our episode together (#112) back in 2018. He is both a fellow trainer and podcast host and he is now releasing his first program to the masses. It's called The IronClad Body Training System. In this episode, he discusses the origins of the program and why he took such a unique approach in creating it. It is a great program for both clients and trainers and we were able to time the release of this episode with the day he launches it. On this week's bonus episode, I welcome Nancy Gass (a.k.a Nikola Rosa.) She and I recently met at The Fitness Summit and unlike the majority of the attendees she is not a fitness professional. She is, however, connected with a very popular guest of ours in Kelly Coffey. Nancy's personal story I found equally intriguing and heartbreaking. We talk about that story in this week's episode. Having heard Dr. Mike T. Nelson speak last year and this year at The Fitness Summit, I knew how far in depth he goes with his research. This year, his presentation was focused on the data surrounding CBD oil. Dr. Mike uncovers what he believes are the most valid and most invalid purposes of this popular supplement. I'll let the episode speak for itself! To learn more about Dr. Mike's work, check out www.miketnelson.com and text 44222 for his keto e-book and to be part of his mailing list. He remains one of my most popular guests so I'm always honored to bring back Dr. Yoni Freedhoff to the show. His previous episodes were #37 and #136 respectively. On this week's episode, we dive into the sensitive subject of the diets our children are exposed to and the best ways to navigate the food they eat for their health. If you're a fellow parent, I can't recommend this episode enough. To learn more about Dr. Yoni's work, please check out his book "The Diet Fix" and his website www.weightymatters.ca To learn more about your host, check out www.jasonleenaarts.com and www.revfittherapy.com You can also like our Facebook page at www.facebook.com/revolutionaryou Download, subscribe, share with your friends and please take a moment to leave us an iTunes review.

For her third appearance on the show (see episodes #135 and #142), Dr. Susan Kleiner joins me to discuss some of her presentation from the 2019 Fitness Summit. She had a fascinating take on what's been happening with grain production, manufacturing and how our bodies have, in turn, responded to them. An episode fully focused on grains had not been accomplished yet on this show and we dove in to it this week. Dr. Susan is always a wealth of great information and I know you won't be disappointed with this one. In this week's bonus episode, I am joined by author and cancer survivor, Lydia Slaby. Her book "Wait, It Gets Worse" came out in March of this year and her story is beyond inspiring. She discusses how cancer affected her and her marriage, as well as the unpredictable detours that occurred after diagnosis and how she is living her life today. When Dr. Lisa Lewis and her husband, Tony Gentilcore, joined me last year for their debut on the show (episode #157) I knew they would be returning again. Having just returned from the 2019 Fitness Summit, Lisa was one of the presenters there. She gave a fantastic presentation on what we know regarding motivation and how to coach our clients to success. There was one slide in particular which I felt deserved an episode all on it's own. So, I welcome back Dr. Lisa this week to talk about the stages of motivation. We use actual client scenarios to describe where motivation can be in our lives and how it's serving to get us closer to our goals. To learn more about Lisa's work, please visit www.drlewisconsulting.com To learn more about your host, check out www.jasonleenaarts.com and www.revfittherapy.com You can also like our Facebook page at www.facebook.com/revolutionaryou Download, subscribe, share with your friends and please take a moment to leave us an iTunes review.

As many of my fellow trainers know, sometimes we have to refer out to other health and wellness practitioners to get more in-depth care when issues arise beyond our scope of practice. Locally, I've been fortunate to have chiropractors, massage therapists, physical therapists, etc. to refer out to when needed. I am joined today by Colorado based chiropractor, Dr. Ann Barter to talk about this type of collaborative care. She recognized in her own field where different approaches could be complementary and effective. Using professionals like I mentioned above as well as medical doctors to work in unison to help patients thrive, Dr. Barter has been extremely successful in understanding how several parties can work together for the same end goal of the patient. To learn more about Dr. Barter's work, visit www.altfammed.com and www.fearlesshealthpodcast.com To learn more about your host, check out www.jasonleenaarts.com and www.revfittherapy.com You can also like our Facebook page at www.facebook.com/revolutionaryou Download, subscribe, share with your friends and please take a moment to leave us an iTunes review.

I am joined this week by nutrition coach, Briana Theroux and nutrition researcher, Alex Leaf, on the topics of body acceptance, fat shaming and health at every size. Several months ago, Alex made a post on social media with regard to body acceptance and it got a lot of feedback both positive and negative. We dive into the nuance of these topics in today's episode. There are so many different avenues we could have taken these ideas and I think you'll find the perspectives here worth diving further into. To learn more about Briana, please visit her website at www.brianatheroux.com or you can find her on Facebook at www.facebook.com/brianatheroux and on Instagram at www.instagram.com/liftheavybreatheeasy To learn more about Alex, visit his website at www.alexleaf.com and check out his research work at www.examine.com He can also be found on Facebook at www.facebook.com/aleaf45 where you can also see the original post referenced in this episode. Joining me for his third time, it's always a pleasure to have Josh Hillis back on the show. You can check out his previous episodes (#71, #121) if you haven't already heard them for more great insight into his work. This go-round we talk about what he has been up to since he transitioned away from the One By One Nutrition team so he could focus on school, clients and his next two books. This episode is a further dive into the things that work and don't work for emotional eating and how to conquer it. To learn more about Josh's work, pick up his book co-authored with none other than Dan John called "Fat Loss Happens On Monday" and visit his website at www.losestubbornfat.com To learn more about your host, check out www.jasonleenaarts.com and www.revfittherapy.com You can also like our Facebook page at www.facebook.com/revolutionaryou Download, subscribe, share with your friends and please take a moment to leave us an iTunes review.
