As I looked into the future for this podcast, I wanted to take the show in slightly different directions. I credit returning guest, Mike Howard of Lean Minded, to be the "guinea pig", if you will, for the first in a 4-part series. To hear our previous episodes together check out Episodes 64, 102, 159, and 221).This week, we kick off the series with habits for fat loss. Mike and I tackle what we believe are some of the most important concepts to consider and what he has found works best for his clients when you're trying to lose weight effectively.

Maybe it comes as little surprise to long-time listeners of the show but Leigh Peele makes her 6th appearance for the milestone 300th episode. You can also check out our previous conversations via Episodes 28, 118, 150, 200 and 215. She has been in the midst of a complete re-write of "The Fat Loss Troubleshoot" which will be released at the end of this year in a very big way and, according to Leigh, is nothing like the original release. We discuss the directions in which she took the book, where her current philosophies and strategies are headed when it comes to coaching fat loss for clients, the importance of diet breaks and maintenance eating and much more. I feel like each time we talk, the episodes get better over time and this one is arguably my favorite. A very big thanks to everyone who has helped us make it to 300 episodes and stay tuned to the end of the show to hear a little bit about the changes I'm looking to make as the show continues on.

I've been connected with B-Well Nation's Leslie Benedetto for several years and of many things we have in common within fitness we also have raised children with autism and have struggled with addiction leading into this industry. In this episode, we talk about the intersection of those factors, how her own business with group exercise has evolved over time and most recently, how they have shifted and changed their business model on the heels of the pandemic.

Ned Parks has been a client and friend of mine for almost 3 years now and, within that time, he has not only referred friends and colleagues to the business but his wife and daughter have become a part of the community as well. In this episode, we talk about what inspired him to start, how he remains motivated to improve, where a tendency to fall to extremes may have backfired on his journey and how sustainability plays a  significant role.

Last year, I had the pleasure of joining a group of fellow fitness professionals looking to understand how to maximize their mailing lists to help their clients. Tara Arndt led the way and she definitely knows what she's doing! Tara is the wife of Tim Arndt who made an appearance on the show way back on Episode #161. If you are a fitness professional tuning in, I highly recommend checking out how Tara helps me dive into my own mailing list strategies. If you are not in the industry, the conversation might help you understand why you are marketed to the way you are within the industry. Tara has even provided a free link for a boot camp course below.

Melody Schoenfeld returns for her 4th appearance on the show this week. You can check out episodes 88, 163 and 205 to hear her former appearances. This time, we get to chat about her new book "Diet Lies and Weight Loss Truths" which she co-authored with another veteran of this show, registered dietitian, Susan Kleiner. If you're looking for a great dive into the most popular diets out there and a very un-biased, evidence based look at what they do and don't do, Melody did fantastic work here. She also looks into the other areas of successful dieting that tend to get overlooked like: psychological impact and goal setting. This is another HIGHLY recommended read.

I welcome Lift The Bar's Head of Education, Gregg Slater, to the show this week. I have been continually impressed by the work Gregg has committed to the Lift The Bar community especially since the virus has affected coaches and their clients across the globe. In this episode, Gregg and I talk about better strategies for a 30-day lockdown program and considerations for how and why to approach exercises to keep from losing ground if you can't access the gym. It would have been nearly impossible to cover the breadth of information Gregg could have discussed. I highly recommend that you check out his work, and more importantly (for the coaches), join the LTB community to see more of what we discussed in this week's show.

This week, I'm doing another client spotlight with the debut of Georgeann Jones and her son, Alec Pinter. Georgeann started with me nearly two years ago and one of our common bonds is having sons with autism. Her son, Alec, recently started training with us as well and this episode is about their experiences and successes as clients of RevFit. We talk about the community here, why it works for both Georgeann and Alec and how the inclusivity and atmosphere has been beneficial not just for the neurotypical but for those with special needs as well.
