On this week's bonus episode, I welcome Nancy Gass (a.k.a Nikola Rosa.) She and I recently met at The Fitness Summit and unlike the majority of the attendees she is not a fitness professional. She is, however, connected with a very popular guest of ours in Kelly Coffey. Nancy's personal story I found equally intriguing and heartbreaking. We talk about that story in this week's episode. To learn more about Nancy's work, visit www.nikolarosa.com To learn more about your host, check out www.jasonleenaarts.com and www.revfittherapy.com You can also like our Facebook page at www.facebook.com/revolutionaryou Download, subscribe, share with your friends and please take a moment to leave us an iTunes review.

Having heard Dr. Mike T. Nelson speak last year and this year at The Fitness Summit, I knew how far in depth he goes with his research. This year, his presentation was focused on the data surrounding CBD oil. Dr. Mike uncovers what he believes are the most valid and most invalid purposes of this popular supplement. I'll let the episode speak for itself! To learn more about Dr. Mike's work, check out www.miketnelson.com and text 44222 for his keto e-book and to be part of his mailing list. He remains one of my most popular guests so I'm always honored to bring back Dr. Yoni Freedhoff to the show. His previous episodes were #37 and #136 respectively. On this week's episode, we dive into the sensitive subject of the diets our children are exposed to and the best ways to navigate the food they eat for their health. If you're a fellow parent, I can't recommend this episode enough. To learn more about Dr. Yoni's work, please check out his book "The Diet Fix" and his website www.weightymatters.ca To learn more about your host, check out www.jasonleenaarts.com and www.revfittherapy.com You can also like our Facebook page at www.facebook.com/revolutionaryou Download, subscribe, share with your friends and please take a moment to leave us an iTunes review.

For her third appearance on the show (see episodes #135 and #142), Dr. Susan Kleiner joins me to discuss some of her presentation from the 2019 Fitness Summit. She had a fascinating take on what's been happening with grain production, manufacturing and how our bodies have, in turn, responded to them. An episode fully focused on grains had not been accomplished yet on this show and we dove in to it this week. Dr. Susan is always a wealth of great information and I know you won't be disappointed with this one. In this week's bonus episode, I am joined by author and cancer survivor, Lydia Slaby. Her book "Wait, It Gets Worse" came out in March of this year and her story is beyond inspiring. She discusses how cancer affected her and her marriage, as well as the unpredictable detours that occurred after diagnosis and how she is living her life today. To learn more about Lydia's work and purchase her book, visit www.lydiaslaby.com You can also connect with her on social media at www.instagram.com/lydiaslaby To learn more about your host, visit www.jasonleenaarts.com and www.revfittherapy.com You can also like our Facebook page at www.facebook.com/revolutionaryou Download, subscribe, share with your friends and please take a moment to leave us an iTunes review.

When Dr. Lisa Lewis and her husband, Tony Gentilcore, joined me last year for their debut on the show (episode #157) I knew they would be returning again. Having just returned from the 2019 Fitness Summit, Lisa was one of the presenters there. She gave a fantastic presentation on what we know regarding motivation and how to coach our clients to success. There was one slide in particular which I felt deserved an episode all on it's own. So, I welcome back Dr. Lisa this week to talk about the stages of motivation. We use actual client scenarios to describe where motivation can be in our lives and how it's serving to get us closer to our goals. To learn more about Lisa's work, please visit www.drlewisconsulting.com To learn more about your host, check out www.jasonleenaarts.com and www.revfittherapy.com You can also like our Facebook page at www.facebook.com/revolutionaryou Download, subscribe, share with your friends and please take a moment to leave us an iTunes review.

As many of my fellow trainers know, sometimes we have to refer out to other health and wellness practitioners to get more in-depth care when issues arise beyond our scope of practice. Locally, I've been fortunate to have chiropractors, massage therapists, physical therapists, etc. to refer out to when needed. I am joined today by Colorado based chiropractor, Dr. Ann Barter to talk about this type of collaborative care. She recognized in her own field where different approaches could be complementary and effective. Using professionals like I mentioned above as well as medical doctors to work in unison to help patients thrive, Dr. Barter has been extremely successful in understanding how several parties can work together for the same end goal of the patient. To learn more about Dr. Barter's work, visit www.altfammed.com and www.fearlesshealthpodcast.com To learn more about your host, check out www.jasonleenaarts.com and www.revfittherapy.com You can also like our Facebook page at www.facebook.com/revolutionaryou Download, subscribe, share with your friends and please take a moment to leave us an iTunes review.

I am joined this week by nutrition coach, Briana Theroux and nutrition researcher, Alex Leaf, on the topics of body acceptance, fat shaming and health at every size. Several months ago, Alex made a post on social media with regard to body acceptance and it got a lot of feedback both positive and negative. We dive into the nuance of these topics in today's episode. There are so many different avenues we could have taken these ideas and I think you'll find the perspectives here worth diving further into. To learn more about Briana, please visit her website at www.brianatheroux.com or you can find her on Facebook at www.facebook.com/brianatheroux and on Instagram at www.instagram.com/liftheavybreatheeasy To learn more about Alex, visit his website at www.alexleaf.com and check out his research work at www.examine.com He can also be found on Facebook at www.facebook.com/aleaf45 where you can also see the original post referenced in this episode. Joining me for his third time, it's always a pleasure to have Josh Hillis back on the show. You can check out his previous episodes (#71, #121) if you haven't already heard them for more great insight into his work. This go-round we talk about what he has been up to since he transitioned away from the One By One Nutrition team so he could focus on school, clients and his next two books. This episode is a further dive into the things that work and don't work for emotional eating and how to conquer it. To learn more about Josh's work, pick up his book co-authored with none other than Dan John called "Fat Loss Happens On Monday" and visit his website at www.losestubbornfat.com To learn more about your host, check out www.jasonleenaarts.com and www.revfittherapy.com You can also like our Facebook page at www.facebook.com/revolutionaryou Download, subscribe, share with your friends and please take a moment to leave us an iTunes review.

I haven't done an episode like this in some time but in preparation for this bonus episode of the show, I went directly to our RevFit community to ask what questions they were burning to get answered by Scott Burgett (aka Plant Based Scotty) today. In this episode, we talk about myths and misconceptions about plant-based eating, veganism, raw foods and adequate protein intakes. There is a great deal of awesome information here. To learn more about Scott, check out www.plantbasedscotty.com , www.instagram.com/plantbased_scotty and www.facebook.com/plantbasedscotty To learn more about your host, check out www.jasonleenaarts.com and www.revfittherapy.com You can also like our Facebook page at www.facebook.com/revolutionaryou Download, subscribe, share with your friends and please take a moment to leave us an iTunes review.

This week, I've got another client spotlight with our Amanda Ulaszewski. In this episode, you'll hear what life events were happening in her life that led her to us and what her transformation story has been like during that time. Like our recent client spotlight with Erin Riffle, I think you'll find Amanda's journey equally inspiring. Kevin Larrabee, host of The FitCast and owner of Allied Strength, returns to the show after his previous appearance on Episode #80. In the past two years, he's watched his own business continue to grow and it's opened his eyes to a lot of what he sees going right and what could definitely be going better with the personal training experience. We tackle a lot of that here. To learn more about Kevin's work, visit www.alliedstrength.com and on Instagram at www.instagram.com/allied_strength To learn more about your host, check out www.jasonleenaarts.com and www.revfittherapy.com You can also like our Facebook page at www.facebook.com/revolutionaryou Download, subscribe, share with your friends and please take a moment to leave us an iTunes review.

I'm joined this week by Renaissance Periodization's Gabrielle Fundaro. In this episode, we talk about about the recent science and evidence behind gut health and not only how we can improve it but how it's affecting our ability to exercise. Gabrielle discusses when and how it's appropriate to use supplementation and more practical testing to determine how we are affected by the food we eat. You can learn more about Gabrielle's work at www.vitaminphdnutrition.com and by following her on Facebook (www.facebook.com/vitaminphd) and Instagram (www.instagram.com/vitaminphd) To learn more about your host, check out www.jasonleenaarts.com and www.revfittherapy.com You can also like our Facebook page at www.facebook.com/revolutionaryou Download, subscribe, share with your friends and please take a moment to leave us an iTunes review.

I very nearly let too much time elapse since Dan John had debuted on the show back at Episode 100. He has just released yet another in a long line of excellent books, this one called "40 Years With A Whistle." I had some points in the book that I wanted to talk to him about and we even got to touch on some more personal subjects that the book didn't go into as great of detail on. It is always an honor to share time with Dan and I can assure you he will be on again in the future. To order your copy of his new one, please go to www.otpbooks.com/product/40_years_with_a_whistle To sign up for his weekly newsletter, please go to www.danjohn.net and click on the tab for Wandering Weights. Adam Willis is both personal/online trainer with Lean Body Performance and podcast host of The Empowered Body Podcast and I'm honored to share the time with him this week. In this episode, we talk about the obstacles he helps his clients work through to overcome and how his own training has evolved now that he is a new father. There is a lot of great insight from a coach who has a great understanding of how to make life and fitness fit together. It has literally been years since I've turned an episode into a client spotlight and those who are currently part of the RevFit family already know the force that is Erin Riffle. Without stealing too much of her thunder, Erin has seen some pretty amazing things happen for her since she started here. Tune in to hear the details. Jay Ashman of Ashman Strength and Kansas City Barbell joins me this week for his debut on the show. Jay is one of the most open and candid people I know in the fitness industry and one of the things that has drawn me to him, is his transparency about his past and how he changed his life through those experiences. We cover a lot in this episode and, as I have tried to routinely do, we delve into some controversial topics. To credit any one person for the growth my writing has seen over the last year or so, it would undoubtedly be Stephanie Lee. Rather than hoard her expertise to myself (and those who have also hired her services) I had to bring her on the show so more people could connect with her as well. Stephanie is firing up the next round of her already successful class, "Write For Impact." This is a time-sensitive link so make sure you act soon! Listeners can find out more through the special link www.stephanielee.me/hello-revfit-radio To learn more about Stephanie, visit her website at www.stephanielee.me and connect with her on Twitter at www.twitter.com/superlee7 To learn more about your host, visit www.jasonleenaarts.com and www.revfittherapy.com You can also like our Facebook page at www.facebook.com/revolutionaryou Download, subscribe, share with your friends and please take a moment to leave us an iTunes review.

I can't believe it's been since way back at Episode 59 that Fat Loss Foodies' Leslie Ann Quillen was last with me! We had a great conversation back then and she returns this week to give updates on all the great things she has been doing with FLF since then. In this episode, we also chat about taking our power back over the food we eat and some strategies for metabolic flexibility in dieting. Dani Singer is the owner of Fit2Go, an in-home personal training service. In this episode, we cover the importance of what happens outside of the training sessions to make sure clients get the best results possible. Dani breaks down why it's crucial to focus on small, sustainable habits especially when the lives of our clients already have so much that can stand in the way of their progress. To learn more about the PAUL method that Dani references, check out www.fit2gopt.com/be-paul and check out www.fit2gopt.com to learn more about Dani himself and the great work he's doing. Legendary powerlifter, coach and owner of Supreme Sports Performance & Training, Matt Gary debuts on the show this week. Matt was at our facility last year to help myself, my trainers and a stable of other great coaches become certified as powerlifting coaches and he was exceptional. I had to bring him on the show to get his take on why the mentality we bring to what we do helps us achieve success. This doesn't just affect powerlifters but anyone who needs to get a better grasp on mindset strategies. There are so many great things for you to learn in this episode, I can't wait for you to hear for yourself. After hearing Greg Nuckols excellent presentation at The Fitness Summit in 2018, I knew I had to finally get him on the show. Greg is the head of Stronger By Science and also oversees the monthly research review MASS with Eric Helms and Mike Zourdos.
